Josefina Gorostiza

Born in Buenos Aires based in Madrid.

Dancer, choreographer and director with a focus on research processes with a large number of performers.

 

Bio.

Director, choreographer, performer and lecturer. Her research focuses on the body’s possibilities and its incredible creative powers. She earned a master’s degree in Choreographic Composition from the National Arts University of Argentina and a master’s degree in scenic composition and visual culture at the Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid).

She has received various grants from amongst others the Argentine National Art Fund, Pro-danza Institute and the Biennial of Young Art, and she has taken part in festivals in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Belgium, Italy, the UK and Spain.

Some of her directors works are: “Coreomania. I can't stop“ co-production with the Cultural Center Ricardo Rojas (2017), " The only thing I want is to dance" in co-production FIBA-Teatro Bombón (2019), “Precarizada” with the support of Prodanza and co-production of Fundación Cazadores (2019), "Fervor -make of dance an act of ardor-" a work created especially for the Contemporary Ballet of Teatro San Martín (2020) and "Bruta" process initiated in residence of creation of the Casa Festival in London (July 2019) and continued at the Próximamente Festival in Brussels (Nov 2019). She currently lives in Madrid, where she is preparing her next piece ¨Las cantátas eufóricas¨ a selection of J. S. Bach cantatas brought into the present under the question: how do you dance Bach today?
